Сelebrating World Wind Day
Sailors and yachtsmen know about the importance of this element most of all – sometimes their life depends directly on the wind.
On 15th June, we celebrate Global Wind Day. The appearance of this holiday in 2007 means that we have overcome the primitive fear of this element and have learned to use it for our own purposes. Sailors and yachtsmen can tell you a lot about the importance of the wind - sometimes their life depends directly on the strength and direction of the wind. So this is definitely our holiday!
Earlier, the wind was considered a divine element and had its patrons whom people worshiped and asked for mercy. In ancient mythology there were three brothers-winds – Borey (the god of the north wind), Zephyr (deity of the western wind) and Noth (god of the south wind). In the Slavic mythology the god of the wind and one of the supreme gods was Stribog. In Hinduism the wind is Vayu, the breath of the universe, the ruler of the world that is "between heaven and earth."
Today we know almost everything about the wind - where, what power to expect it, how to get energy out of it, came up with a measurement scale and hundreds of names. For example, Watermelon wind blows on the watermelons of the Aegean coast. The name of the summer fresh breeze is The doctor. Women wind is a feeble flow of air in Kamchatka, where women dry their underwear. The deadman - the wind on about Seliger, blowing to the east.
The EGOcharter fleet is Catana Bali sailing catamarans, which provide everything related to yacht sailing and comfortable rest on it. We always hold a check and teach clients how to handle a catamaran, including in windy weather. We wish everyone the right wind!
