The Best Cocktails to Enjoy on Board During Your Yacht Charter. Video recipes included.
There’s nothing quite like life at sea: the sun shining above, gentle waves splashing against the hull, a soft sea breeze in the air, and another hidden beach waiting just ahead. But something is still missing from this perfect picture — of course, an ice-cold cocktail in your hand.
First of all, it simply looks better.
Second, it’s usually much cheaper than ordering drinks at waterfront bars — especially in places like Mykonos or Santorini.
And third… what could be more fun than mixing cocktails on a yacht? Well, probably drinking them — provided you’re not the one steering the boat.
That’s one of the many advantages of a crewed yacht charter. But if you’re sailing bareboat, make sure you have at least one “professionally trained” friend onboard so you can take turns responsibly.
Sailor Mule
For true sea wolves and salty sailors
No relation to Sailor Moon. Showing up on a yacht without a bottle of rum is practically a maritime crime — even if you’re more civilized sailor than pirate. Add a couple of bottles of ginger beer and you’re ready to go.
Ingredients
- 30 ml fresh lime juice
- 100 ml ginger beer
- 30 ml ginger syrup (optional)
- 45 ml rum (spiced rum works great)
Gordon’s Cup
For the vegans, hipsters… and anyone pretending to diet
A perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors, while cucumbers and lime make it feel surprisingly healthy. Refreshing, light, and basically guilt-free. Almost.
Ingredients
- 60 ml gin
- 1/2 lime
- A pinch of sea salt
- 2–3 slices of cucumber
- 100 ml sugar syrup
Grapefruit Sparkler
For when the girls onboard start getting bored
Light, sparkling, slightly bitter, and dangerously easy to drink. Bring a couple of these to the sunbathing ladies onboard and just wait. Within minutes, someone will start jumping into the sea cannonball-style.
Ingredients
- 45 ml gin
- 30 ml freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
- 30 ml vanilla syrup
- 30 ml sparkling water
- Ice cubes
- Grapefruit slice & rosemary sprig for garnish
How to Prepare
- Fill a large wine glass or cocktail glass with ice cubes.
- Pour in:
- 45 ml gin
- 30 ml fresh grapefruit juice
- 30 ml vanilla syrup
- Stir gently for a few seconds to combine the flavors.
- Top with sparkling water.
- Garnish with:
- a slice of grapefruit,
- fresh rosemary,
- or a few berries for extra summer vibes.
- Serve immediately and enjoy while watching the sunset from the deck.
Watermelon Sangria
For those charters where you barely know your crew before departure
You know the situation: you rent a catamaran with a group of almost-strangers, meet properly for the first time in the cockpit after leaving the marina… and there are still several hours until the first swim stop.
That’s exactly why this recipe serves 16. Thank us later — because those six people from the other cabins are about to become your best friends.
Ingredients
- 2.5–3 kg watermelon, cubed and blended
- 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine
- 240 ml vodka
- 120 ml Triple Sec
- 120 ml sugar syrup (optional, depending on watermelon sweetness)
- 1 lime
- 1 orange
- 250 g fresh blueberries (or any seasonal berries)
